Cosán na Naomh – Pilgrim Paths Day Event – April 4th 2015
Isolated by mountain and ocean, the weather-sculpted, lands beyond Dingle carry an inescapable feeling of regressing in time. This is particularly true of the ancient Cosán na Naomh penitential route that winds through ancient fields and fuchsia rich lanes from the pilgrims landing place at Ventry beach to Mount Brandon and makes an ideal celebration for Pilgrim Paths Day.
Description: Path is at relatively low level but there are some challenging underfoot conditions and steep ascents and descents, so walkers need to be well equipped and shod. Reasonably fit and well equipped walkers will have an unmatched opportunity to complete the full pilgrim journey to Mount Brandon on Easter Sunday.
Meeting Place: Cosán na Naomh trailhead, Ventry Beach
Getting there: Follow the R559 west from Dingle and swing left for the assembly point at Ventry beach carpark
Departure: 10.30am. Distance: 17km. Duration: 5 hours.
Contribution: None, but participants must arrange their own return to Ventry
